Carl J. Sukenick is greatly influenced by Japanese movies. “Godzilla is a Japanese monster movie character, a 400-foot tall dinosaur. In one of the Godzilla movies, he adopts a little boy dinosaur. It’s called ‘Godzilla on Monster Island.’ He teaches him how to fight other monsters, and they fall asleep in the snow together. It’s a wonderful picture. All of them are.”
