Community Access Art Collective Project Space and Gallery

In 2025, in partnership with ChaShaMa, with support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Community Access Art Collective had a special opportunity to transform a former café at 2 Lafayette in Foley Square into a work, exhibition, and project space. The site provided the collective with much needed room and time to create, expand creative practices while engaging the surrounding community through exhibitions, workshops, and everyday interactions, as the collective worked in full view of passersby.

"Being able to go to that space, you didn't feel limited. It was wonderful. I would love to have another space like that.  I had a fan club. It was so extra for people to see us. The visibility was so awesome." -Anthony Smith

“It was a great experience to be able to create larger works—something I’ve long wanted to do. 2 Lafayette brought us out into the world; we became seen. We were publicly visible.” - Pablo Martinez

We are deeply grateful for this opportunity, and for everyone who came through, spent time with us, and connected with us through creating art and sharing conversations about our work.
